Students and staff at Lincoln Grade School had the opportunity to contribute to Toys For Tots by having a "Hat Day" on Wednesday, December 17.  Contributions totaled $342 and gave the students the opportunity give back to our community.  This was a project that teaches us one of the 7 Habits of Successful Students - "The Leader In Me."

1,000 Christmas Cards Project.  Students from Mrs. Dean and Mrs. Swisher's 5th grade classes combined to write 1,000 Christmas Cards to be sent to St. Jude and Riley's Hospitals.  The idea originated from 5th grade students Sage Mickey, Livia Smith, Aleah Fox, Lucy List, and Sabrina Siddique (pictured in the front row).  The five students coordinated the project and were assisted by classmates to achieve their of sending 1,000 Christmas Cards.

On Tuesday, August 5th over 40 area United Way volunteers helped Community Unit No. 2 schools with various building needs.  Landscaping, painting, playground cleanup, as well as help inside the buildings were just some of the tasks these volunteers helped with during this first ever work day given by the United Way.  The efforts of all of these volunteers were outstanding and greatly appreciated by our school system.  This is something we are hopeful will continue to grow and develop into an annual event.  Once again the United Way proves to be a valuable community partner.

On Monday, May 5 all students participated in the annual LGS track meet.  Special thanks to Coach Cork for being the official starter.  He has continued to help the school run this meet and his legendary voice starts each relay race.  Enjoy the pictures from the meet.
