For the months of December and January, students at Washington Elementary were taught the "habit" of Think Win-Win. This "habit," as we call it, is a part of our Leader In Me character program that gives our students some common language and basic principles on building character. In hopes that they will apply this new skill, students were asked to find a chore they could complete around their home to earn funds they could then donate to an organization called Feed My Starving Children. This organization puts meal packages together for as little as 22 cents and ships them to Africa for distribution. We will be finishing up this project on Janaury 31st, but would really appreciate you continuing to discuss with your child all the service projects they could do locally if they wish to continue to give back and to Think Win-Win.
For those of you unfamiliar with the Leader In Me program, I will be putting out more information in a future article in the News and Info section of our district web page or on the Washington Elementary School page. If you have questions about this program, The Leader in Me or any other project we do at Washington, please do not hesitate to call the office at 618-544-2233 and talk with me.
Yours in Education,
Jason Stark, Principal
