Robinson Schools

Kindergarten Pre-Registration

For all children who will be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2014, Robinson CUSD #2 will be holding pre-registration beginning this Tuesday, March 25th from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 26th from 8:30 AM to 6: 00 PM, and Thursday, March 27 from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM.  Pre-Registration will be held at Washington Elementary School and no appointment is needed.

Please bring a certified copy of your child's birth certificate and their immunization record.  We're sorry, a hospital copy of the birth certifcate will not work.  You can get a certified copy at the County Cleark's office in the county your child was born.

During pre-registration, appointments will be made for Kindergarten Screenings which will be held in May.  We will determine the number of sections of Kindergarten based on our number of registrants, so it's important to pre-register.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call the office at Washington Elementary at 618-544-2233.

Learning about the Winter Olympics

Olympics Student's at Washington Elementary School had a chance to learn several facts about the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.  Staff posted information about the different events, its location and a medal count for the United States Olympic Team along our main hallway in the building.  Shown here are student's collecting information about the Winter Olympics to share in their classroom writing.  I would like to thank our staff for posting and updating information regarding these Winter Olympics.

WES Feeds Starving Children

LIM -_Raises_moneyWashington Elementary School students worked hard during the months of December and Janaury to learn the fourth Leader in Me habit - Think Win-Win.  Our students completed chores at home to earn spare change and then donated their "pay" to the Feed My Starving Children charity.  Feed My Starving Children will be holding a mobile packing event at Lincoln Trail College on April 12 and 13.  Our students raised $800.  With each meal costing just 22 cents, our students were able to purchase 3636 meals.

Our students deserve a big round of applause for their efforts.  If you or your child would like to help this organization or would like to help with the packing event at LTC in April, please contact Julie Brooks at 618-599-0582.

WES Students Think Win-Win

For the months of December and January, students at Washington Elementary were taught the "habit" of Think Win-Win.  This "habit," as we call it, is a part of our Leader In Me character program that gives our students some common language and basic principles on building character.  In hopes that they will apply this new skill, students were asked to find a chore they could complete around their home to earn funds they could then donate to an organization called Feed My Starving Children.  This organization puts meal packages together for as little as 22 cents and ships them to Africa for distribution.  We will be finishing up this project on Janaury 31st, but would really appreciate you continuing to discuss with your child all the service projects they could do locally if they wish to continue to give back and to Think Win-Win.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Leader In Me program, I will be putting out more information in a future article in the News and Info section of our district web page or on the Washington Elementary School page.  If you have questions about this program, The Leader in Me or any other project we do at Washington, please do not hesitate to call the office at 618-544-2233 and talk with me.
