CREDITS REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION: 29 CREDITS

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Four credits in English
• Three credits in Science
• Three credits in Math
• Three credits in Social Studies
• ½ credit in Health Education
• ½ credit in Consumer Education
• One credit in applying Computers
• 2 credits in Fine Arts, Foreign Language, or Vocational Education
• 4 credits in Physical Education

All graduation requirements must be met before participating in the graduation program.

FAFSA INFORMATION

All seniors should complete the FAFSA, the first step in the financial aid process for post-secondary institutions. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now required to earn an Illinois high school diploma.  If a student decides not to complete the FAFSA, the student must complete the Nonparticipation form in order to meet the graduation requirement.  The links to complete the FAFSA & to the Nonparticipation form are located below.  The FAFSA is required for students to even receive scholarships. Most colleges and universities require the FAFSA.

The deadline to complete the FAFSA or fill out the Nonparticipation Form is December 1, 2025

FAFSA NONPARTICIPATION FORM

Starting in the 2020-21 school year, to receive a diploma from a public high school a student must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or, if applicable the Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid. Local school district staff must provide support and assistance to students and parents/guardians in the application process. Additional assistance with completing an application is available from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission. Alternatively, a parent/guardian must file a waiver if they choose to opt a child out of the graduation requirement by completing this Nonparticipation Form; students who are at least 18 years of ago or legally emancipated my complete the form themselves. Visit the Illinois Student Assistance Commission if you wish to opt yourself or your student out of the Financial Aid Application graduation requirement.

Students are encouraged to visit with the counselors for personal guidance and for information on grades, study help, testing programs, and college and scholarship information. The counselors are available to discuss home, school, or social concerns.

Counselor Office Services

Robinson High School offers a large array of guidance and counseling services to all students. These services include, but are not limited to, personal counseling, academic counseling, career counseling, scheduling, and testing services. The counseling department also provides scholarship and other financial information to seniors by announcing scholarships available through the student announcements each morning, participating in the LTC College Fair, hosting a financial aid night, and other activities.

Communication

The Counseling Department believes that communication is the key to a students success in the classroom and is in the student's best interest that his or her parent/guardian and the school communicates regularly. Emails are an effective method of communication. RHS teachers can be contacted via email by using the Staff Directory. Teachers are very conscientious about responding to emails, and many parents have found it to be an excellent way to keep track of their child's educational progress.
